This has been discussed, I know, but I didn't see one that came after the book came out. So my question is, what is the Thousand Fold Thought? I've read the theories, but now that we've had the big revelation scene with Moengus, I'm still confused. It could be that I just rushed the section, or need to re-read it a few times, but I was just wondering what some of you guys thought. view post
Since Moengus and Kellus both agreed on the TTT, it seems that the only difference is the question of the existence of the Outside. Another difference I wonder about is how they would implement their rule; what it would be used to accomplish. Kellhus seems to want to use it to unite mankind in preparation for the comning Apocalypse, but what would Moengus do? I've read speculation that the Dunyain might join the Consult. Perhaps Moengus would have eventually used this unification to speed man's fall. Or perhaps it would allow the Dunyain to use entire nations as training grounds for their order. This might let them shorten their ultimate goal by several generations (or lengthen it, who knows). In the end, it does seem to all hinge on the existence of the Outside. We'll probably have to wait for AE to find out more, but I enjoy throwing these thoughts out. view post
I just read the last train of thought, and it occured to me that every one who recieved the 'dream' that Moengus sent save Kellhus were sent into the Thousand Thousand halls to die. This could provide a partial hint that the leaders of the Dunyain are holding things back from their followers. However, I personally believe that they are unaware-but that's just me. Also, how high up in the ranks are/were Kellhus and Moengus? That in itself could answer a few of these questions. view post

No, I think they choose to die because they had been polluted by the outside world.
Hummmm Just thought about it and it gives more credence to the fact that they would associates themselves with the Consult to block the world from the Outside. Just to keep from being polluted by "wild cards".
Anyway. [/quote:cbr3p3qk]
Well, that's the [i:cbr3p3qk]supposed[/i:cbr3p3qk] reason. But I probably agree. And I'm a big fan of the 'dunyain as consult' idea. But with their intellect, what would their position be? Would they be able to rise to the top and take over? Or would their new masters decide to do a bit of 'research' to find out what makes them so awesome?

Well, it's hard to imagine a normal Dunyain trying to reason with bashrag or wracu. So unless they make it up by subtly going against the synthese or something, who knows. Plus we don't really know enough about the Consult to make a really informed conclusion. view post
Another thing about the Gnosis that I remember is that it is spoken through the original nonman language, where the anagogic sorcery is forced to used more watered down tounges to speak it. view post
perhaps the idea that Kellhus puts out of 'everyone being a point of the outside' that he makes to Akka could explain some of it. Perhaps the ultimate goal of the Dunyain to sever this tie, as the consult would, or perhaps learning of it, could attempt to truly connect themselves to it-although that is probably about as anathema as you can get for them. And that idea about the dunyain mastering the tekne... ooh lordy would that be bad. Although the unpassion of the Dunyain and the bestiality of the Consult wouldn't mix all that well, however the synthese was able to produce a response from Kellhus after he possesed Esmi, that is worrying. view post
