I liked that a lot. Sadly, very few of the people I have played it for enjoy it very much. view post
The problem with that song, or any spoken word type song for that matter, is that I can't seem to help visualizing William Shatner up on stage in a black turtleneck, shaking his ass for a smoke filled room of over the hill, finger snapping hipster aliens. And that's an image you don't really want creeping around anywhere, let alone slumming it up in your head. Damn you sexy Shatner! Damn you and your cold, black beatnik heart! view post
Where the hell did you get Shatner from that? This song actually got listed in my school paper as one of the ten most creative songs written. view post
Because Shatner was the one doing the spoken word?

Every line Shatner delivers has that same stilted, spoken word vibe going for it, be in on stage, on screen or in music. It just happens to work pretty damn well in the case of this remake of Common People. view post
Sorry, that was a rather embarrassing shoot-off of my mouth. I now can see exactly how you get that image. view post
I take it its bill shatner, him from the Kelloggs adds at the moment? If your looking to sink low go for the infamous Leonard Nimoy's Ballad of Bilbo Baggins. lol view post

I love that video so much
Anyway, I finally got around picking up Shatner's Has Been album to see how the rest of it faired in comparison with Common People, and as much as I like to poke fun at the guy, it's really rather good. I especially like the song Has Been where he pokes back at the people making fun of him. He has a deliciously self-deprecating sense of humour.
