Does anyone here play D&D, Warhammer, etc, or anything like online RPGs, computer RPGs and all?
Semi-literate posts FTW!

Anyway...
I play D&D myself...

EDIT:
Yea, and if you have any good stories from the gaming table, don't hesitate to share. I might share my own at some point. Look forward to the angel incident and the Rod of Tiger... view post

I play online games like World of Warcraft (on occasion), or Morrowind - that sort of thing.

Never really got into the DnD, or card-based gaming. view post

Played D&D (2nd and 3rd Editions) for quite a bit as well as the newer Star Wars D20 based RPG. For online I play Guild Wars on occassion and enjoy some good RPG offline cames like Morrowind, Oblivion, etc.

One of my favourite gaming moments was as a Dark Side Force User in a Star Wars game and being able to catch an entire unit of 25 soldiers all within range of Force Lightning. Two uses later and they were all dead. Luckily the DM went easy on the Dark Side Points view post

I've done quite a bit of gaming (though I still know gamers who have been playing longer than I've been alive), so I won't list all the different game ssytems I've played, rather I'll note the major/best ones.

AD&D (2nd ed.), Tribe 8, Unknown Armies, Earth Dawn, Vampire: Dark Ages/The Masquerade, Witchcraft and R.A.S.

Aaaaaaah, roleplaying...

On a side note if you are interested, Unknown Armies is quite simply the BEST contemporary roleplaying game out there. Buy it. Buy it now and play it. view post

I played D&D (now on 3 Add.) which lead to Everquest. I tried out Baulder's Gate (D&D for PC), but I prefer the online nature of MMORPGs. I beta tested World of Warcraft and didn't look back..started playing WoW when it went live in Nov. 04 and left EQ. I find I can only dedicate time and money for one online subscription game.

Now that my kids are getting old enough, we have discovered some great table top games that are easier than D&D but have great replay value. Our favorites are Heroscape (can find it at most retail stores like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. or order online) and Pirates! (table top, build your own ship, game in a package from WizKids).

I play in spurts, both table top and RPG online. I have found that WoW has not been the 'grind' that was EQ. At first, Blizzard seem to have the fan concept that responded more to the consumers and their suggestions. Lately, however, I am sad to say that Blizzard Customer Support has been lacking and they have gone the way of most entertainment gaming companies with their Developers sacrificing content for what makes money, not what their fans are asking for. Though Blizzard is on the leading edge of fan-based input, they have given up a little of what they had in the "golden days" when the game first came out. No game is perfect I realize and this is only my opinion, the amaeuter that I am.

I am looking forward to trying out Warhammer next year, depending on what my gaming friends do. I think I am about due for a computer upgrade as well...since Warhammer seems to be demanding much more for system requirements than what I am currently running. Of course....my computer is about 5 years old too..... The story concepts look good, the replay value seems high and the content/reward for time invested seems good also. view post

I used to play D&D but then I moved. Didn't find any gamers there at all, but now that I've moved again (to Hawai'i), I hope I'll find some people.

Especially considering it would be a damned shame if all my rulebooks went to waste. Those books are expensive!

Still, I do have semi-funny gaming story: The adventure starts out with the entire group in a prison cell. I can't for the life of me remember why we were there. Anyway, this big bald guy (an NPC) gets thrown in with us, and informs us that we are all in big trouble. Now, none of us have any gear at all, not even a bit of wire for the thief (me) to pick the lock. So what do we do? Why, use good ol' baldy as a battering ram, of course! With the cell door smashed open, and only one of us is armed (with a rock). I really don't remember the rest of it, but I do recall that the guy who had the rock decided to keep it rather than get a real weapon. view post

Oh yeah..I forgot my funny story. Back in the day, I was playing a half-elf thief and there was an orge magi in the group. Part of the fun of playing as adults is drinking and doing shots. As the night progress both the magi and I were quite buzzed and flirting with each other, all in role-play of course! We were fighting some huge She-Lobe spider thing that could turn you to stone. My thief used her hide skill, snuck in behind her and climbed the wall to imploy some type of a net-trap. She was engaging the party and didn't see me until I dropped down from the wall and failed my silent fall skill. She whirled around and turned me into stone. The magi started laughing and the guys started joking about having a stone sex slave. He finally used some oil of stone to flesh on me, restoring all but the breasts to flesh! For the rest of her days, my thief had stone breasts view post

I'll save the Rod of Tiger for later. I can't be bothered typing it out right now...

However, I shall tell you of a most glorious pairing, that of Atali Scathhach and Ginkle Gnomregon (formerly Gnomey-Gnome). A Drow sorceress and a Gnome wizard. It shouldn't have happened- but it did. And it was glorious.

If difficult. You see, Atali and Ginkle were imprisoned by another, more powerful player character, for crimes against his state. (Maybe we insulted his character, maybe we held him back from his goal, but it was in the name of love! The other character was a vampire intent on world domination after all...).

And now the squishy bit...

Imprisoned in seperate cells, and lacking powerful magic between them, Atali and Ginkle make use of the Guard's stupidity to trick him into leaving the room and make sweet, height-impeded love to each other. Through the bars. Ten minutes later, Ginkle is taken out of the cell, to fight his arch rival Avrilet in single combat at the command of the vampire. Atali cries, but she too is dragged out of her cell, and brought to a box in the arena to watch her lover die.

But wait!

With his powers restored, Ginkle is able to teleport out of the arena?! No, no he isn't. Don't be stupid. However, whilst slain, his hand is whole, and becomes a powerful artefact, until the time of his resurrection many years later. Atali, seeing Ginkle die, leaps into the arena, but seeing death is inevitable if she fights, flees into an extradimensional mansion, and there gives birth to her litter of Spider-Gnomes, having received the blessing of Lloth.

[size=75:f3fp91sz]Note: I was Atali. Also, the player whom Ginkle was answerable to was the most homophobic person I have ever met, so it was impressive that he could roleplay that.[/size:f3fp91sz] view post

I do occasional and selective gaming. I'd play WoW for a few months, then nothing. Gonna try out elder scrolls oblivion (read on the game forum that some people can actually play one game for 4 YEARS!) I get bored after 6 months. view post

Ok, well, I think this will be the first time im posting outside of the rpg discussion thread. Ive played Magic: the Gathering since 1998, though I have done no tournaments as of yet (my deck sucks!) As for WoW and other online mmorpg's, I dont have the money and my mom needs help, due to my father being brain-damaged due to medical negligence. But I wont depress you all with the sad tale. view post

has anyone played around with any of the rpg maker series? they're a little involved but generally user-friendly...and fun as hell once you get the hang of them.

anyway, i figured that if nothing else, someone could make a PoN based rpg with it, not for sale, of course, but just for fun......food for thought anyway view post

Gaming? posted 04 August 2006 in Off-Topic DiscussionGaming? by Hellscythe, Auditor

Or, the person could make the game using the rpg-maker game, then send it to a video game company and suggest to them, then we, and the millions of other PoN fans out there and send letters to said game company telling them of our support for a proper PoN game. view post
