New to the site as well. Just dropped by for the first time yesterday. Anyway, I had a near identical scenario to the one FTH had. I bought the book around the new year but after reading the first 40 pages or so put it down and went on to other things. Took a beach trip two weeks ago and determined to finish tDtCB. I didn't re-read those 40 pages but just hoped right in where my book mark was. I found it infitinetly easier to get into this time. Funny, that. view post

He's my favorite author. I love his work. I've read almost his entire collection of published works (still haven't read the Wizard or Starwater Stains yet.) The Book of the New Sun is one of the best books (collectively) I feel is out there. The use of imagery, the 'magical' realism, it's powerful stuff and still haunts my view of reading to this day. Fifth Head of "Cerberus" is also wonderful as is "Peace" and "The Devil in the Forest." Wolfe is a genius. Can you tell I like him? :) view post
