at least not without a good reason. 30's too young to be that mature. view post

I'm still here, I usually log in every few days to delete spam except for during the last week and a half-two weeks where commitments to my Masters work reduced my availabilty to even sleep

Don't worry I won't be abandoning the board anytime soon to let it be overrun by the evil spammers. Although now I spend so much time deleting spam and reporting spam accounts that I don't leap into the discussions quite so much.

Anyway I do my best to at least log in every two days or so, if not every day when I can.[/quote:ljel00mh]

How would you define religion? posted 10 October 2006 in Philosophy DiscussionHow would you define religion? by gierra, Sorcerer-of-Rank

religion is a written guide to how to live your life and worship god, in whatever form(s).

i think it has to be differentiated (is that a word?) between believing in 'god' and believing in religion. i think the two are completely different.

*and before you go saying 'well i don;t believe in god, i believe in blah blah blah...' i don;t care. by god i mean existence, creation, and vice versa, whatever.. maybe it should have been insert random belief here view post

Well at least they pay you. Who knows you may become a famous artist and never have to work for anyone but yourself again.[/quote:93xsyx50]

ya, right,. but they pay me shit. i don;t get benefits or sick days or vacation. my company is pretty much screwing me around, but i'm gonna fuck em over so oh well.

the painting... well.. i dunno if i could do it for a living.. mind you, to make the same amount that i do now, i'd have to sell, say, 4 paintings at $5000 a pop. the one i'm currently working on will go for about $1000 and that is a deal for a friend of mine, so maybe it's feasible...

ah well, i'd probably get bored if i didn;t have a day job. at least until i have kids and my job description looks like hers. view post

my hair does not look unbrushed.. i brush it with my hands, and sometimes before i wash it to get rid of stray hairs.. but brushing my hair makes it pretty frizzy...[/quote:2upvm51t]

brushes are the worlds biggest lie...the only thing brushes do is get stuck

and to harrol, if i were to ask my little sis that, she wouldn't revert to violence, she would just say "your face"[/quote:2upvm51t]

i actually have a really great brush.. it's meant specifically for curly hair, and it's bristles are very widely spaced. there are maybe like 30 bristles on the whole brush head. still i only run it through when i get out of the shower and sometimes before bed. view post

Gierra watch out for that whole disgruntled employee thing. I was a contract employee for 3 years yes it sucked, but now I have retirement and sick days. In other words stay patient and look for new work. Obviously you are very talented so there has to be better things out there for you.[/quote:2s3vhb4u]

no, you;re right, and i just don;t have it in me to screw em over when i leave, as much as i'd like to daydream and plot.. but i mean i work for a large and well known company, so references and experience with them will look really good on my resume, which is the only reason i'm still here.

i'm looking for something else, but i'm not gonna leave for some crappier job. since i work for the temp agency, i should just get him to find me something better. i only took a job this low paying because i had just moved back to the city, had like $50 to my name and had to find a job and an apartment really fast. it was only supposed to be for a couple months anyways.. view post

at any rate, i'm laid back, but i'm not lazy. i do more than that. this weekend, barring terrible weather, i shall be chopping down saplings and some bigger dead trees. i got me a shiny new hatchet view post

from the bit i just read about him, that obama dude looks like a good choice. of course, that means he doesn;t stand a chance.

at any rate, i don;t envy your choices. we have a mayoral election next month and our main candidates are not so great. the last election we had a transvestite run.. she got a lot of votes.. now she's a columnist. i wonder what other crazy people will run this year. view post
