The Hangover Whinge: Why oh Why? + A Misery Poll posted 15 June 2006 in Off-Topic DiscussionThe Hangover Whinge: Why oh Why? + A Misery Poll by gierra, Sorcerer-of-Rank

i've really only been drunk off tequila once (damn those mexicans!), and while i was ill, i didn;t have a hangover.

the one time i had a really bad one was when i thought it would be a good idea to drink a bottle of scotch. i had to work the next day, and there was no possibility of calling in sick. fortunately it was a used book store, sunday and winter. i only had a half dozen customers. i just sat on my stool and kept my head on the desk, only lifting it when someone walked in.

i was much better when my buddy came by and i closed the store and smoked a joint in the bathroom.

anyways, not doing that again. view post

Maybe, but something in me balks at that idea.

If you're talking about someone choosing to be ignorant of the conflict(s) in the Middle East or the energy crisis then yes, one can choose ignorance over "enlightenment" or vice versa. But I was under the impression that when we say "knowledge of the world" we aren't speaking with regards to those trivialities but rather to an awareness of the "nature of man" itself.

I'm not so sure that such awareness of the world is a choice, per se. Those kinds of people have always struck me as being inherently aware of the world around them (the nature of man); after a certain age that is. It's as if observation is a gift given them that can't be returned or disregarded. Their ability to see the truths of human nature seem more a curse-from-birth than a quality honed through years of education and contemplation; that stuff comes afterward... if they're lucky.

Does that make any sense? OH, and I've contemplated this a few times before already... I choose awareness/knowledge.[/quote:3v7x93fh]

that makes sense, and you;'re totally right. but i think, like anything, there are people to which things come naturally, and people who must make a concious choice to be that way. view post

Hear the call - Line up your mothers
We'll take them skanks on a ride
Me and my two wretched brothers
We're gonna stretch their holes wide

Since, I came down MILF-fever
I can't dispute the urge
I'm lusting after hairy beaver
It's time to take to search

Popping anal cherries
Picking dingleberries

I met this bitch her name was Mona
A horny double D-cup
Her cunt was dry like Arizona
I had to lube that thing up

Poked her with my fist
Up until the wrist

Got MILF?

Hear the call mature ladies
We have some good news for you
Get your bitch asses in our Mercedes
And have some cock shampoo

Boozed up an Asian MILF with sake
Her ass was steaming hot
She was a black belt in Bukkake
And made me cum a lot

Like my women wrinkled
Fat and semen-sprinkled
Damn that crotch smells sour
Wants me to devour

The filthy secrets of your mommy
I'm sure you didn't know
She had a piece of my salami
And sucked it like a pro

It's my righteous duty
To please that flabby booty

Got MILF?

sorry, this was just the first thing to pop into myhead.

your story was very nice, sorry to derail. view post

Choosing ignorance or enlightenment is really somewhat of a paradox, since if you are aware of the choice you are not entirely ignorant, and hence it is not, in fact, a choice: you are enlightened. Well, at least a little. Conversely, if you are entirely ignorant, you don't know there is a choice so you can't make it.[/quote:1t9spvuq]

So how come it was so easy for Xin, a guy Achamian had known for as many years as he had known Esmenet, to leave his prince, the man he had schooled since childhood to go in search of a man he didnt even know was still alive while Esmenet is able to just assume Achamian is dead and move on and barely goes a few days without bunking down with the next strong man she sees and forgetting about Akka[/quote:34eyihpt]

because xin is a warrior, and esmi is a woman, who probably would have been kidnapped, raped and/or killed had she struck out on her own to find him. and really, what could she have done to help achamian even if she had believed he was alive?

i'd hardly say she only went a few days wbefore bunking down with kelhus. she stayed behind to grieve and mourn, and was not until later that kelhus and serwe returned for her, and convinced her to go with them. view post

At least Isreal makes even a cursory effort to minimize civilian casualties. Hezbollah likes to fire unguided rockets at civilians on purpose.
[/quote:21vzxneq]

i admit that i'm mostly ignorant on the issue, as i try to avoid watching the news these days, but from what i've seen, i'm not sure this is true. any time that i do hear something, it's about how isreals rockets hit a hospital, or a school, or so on.

either way, both sides are at fault, so as far as i'm concerned, they can bomb the hell out of eachother. view post

Human Hunger posted 31 July 2006 in Philosophy DiscussionHuman Hunger by gierra, Sorcerer-of-Rank

but here's thing, you can;t judge someone so quickly. what if that hippy driving an SUV works for a company that plants trees, and he needs that large vehicle to transport tools, shovels, staff, etc.? i mean, he probably doesn;t, but maybe.

i don;t so much have a problkem with people driving big gas guzzlers, the gods know i love trucks, i guess it's more that people drive them for the hell of it, not because they need to be able to transport stuff.

at any rate, i hope that by the time people's hunger for new and more and wealth destroys the world, i will be safely living in a cave. ( i almost said cake.) view post

ignorance or enlightenment ? posted 31 July 2006 in Philosophy Discussionignorance or enlightenment ? by gierra, Sorcerer-of-Rank

yes, i too hope that was sarcastic, cos i laughed my arse off at it..

and to clarify.. it's not that i take pleasure, or even find happiness, in the suffering of others, it's just that i don;t let it get to me. i don;t watch the news anymore, cos it's just one sad story after another.. i'd rather walk down the street and see that people are generally good to eachother.

-ahem- but i hope that was clear beforehand. view post

i don;t know if he did drugs, but he did like sodomising young men. he was also a vegetarian. interesting.

anyways, i did not say all great artists were drug addicts or alcoholics.. but there is a startling amount of them that were. but i think edge of certainty was more to the point... view post
