I rarely eat at any of those, might be because my town is the only one in the world that has neither. view post

Erikson is awesome. Go Steve.

Yhough I'm not saying that Bakker is bad, after a few chapters of tDtCb, I couldn't stop view post

Stephen Erikson's Books posted 17 June 2005 in Literature DiscussionStephen Erikson's Books by Arkmam, Candidate

I admit to hating GotM the first time I read, it, but that might have been because I came directly from books with much simpler plots, like Jordan and Eddings. I put it down and read aSoIaF instead. After that I had absolutely nothing good to read, and no money to buy more books for. So to make time pass I started GotM again, and after making my way through the first hundred pages I was hooked. I read all the books out at that time (Gardens, Gates, Memories and Chains), and after that went directly back to Gardens and read all of them again before doing Midnight Tides.

Steven Erikson reigns supreme. view post

Best Kick-in-the-Nuts' EVER!!! posted 17 June 2005 in Literature DiscussionBest Kick-in-the-Nuts' EVER!!! by Arkmam, Candidate

The end of Memories of Ice (Malazan book 3). The attack on Coral (I think that was the name). I was in a "WTF?!?" state for several chapters. Especially when

The end of Midnight Tides (Malazan book 5), in the throne room.

And the red wedding, of course. view post

Feast for Crows due this Summer posted 17 June 2005 in Literature DiscussionFeast for Crows due this Summer by Arkmam, Candidate

Asha will be in both books, and I'm pretty sure that Theon is no longer a PoV.

The kingsguard in Dorne is Arys Oakheart.

Arya is in Dance. view post

Erikson is my fave, but Martin and Bakker is not that far behind. All in all a dastardly trio!

God...why do the words "tub" and "girl" invariably remind me of one particularly disturbing picture. I can only assume it is the same one you are also thinking of.

God bless the Internet.[/quote:391o1b4g]

More about Erikson books... posted 04 August 2005 in Off-Topic DiscussionMore about Erikson books... by Arkmam, Candidate

The Bone Hunters prologue, which takes place directly after the end of House of Chains, is set in the 22nd (I think) year of the empresses's rule, instead of 12th (again, I think) as it "should" be. Just add about ten years to every date given earlier than Midnight Tides, or better, just don't care about the dates and read on. view post
