Hello,
I'm a fan whose mother language isn't English so you guys may please keep that in mind, if my posts sound somehow odd.
However, I'm still reading the first volume of PoN, now about at the last third - and I really like it.
From my personal feeling, PoN is more like ASoIaF, meaning, the world is complex but not too complex (as sometimes the Malazan world). That's what I appreciate much.
Some elements recall to our own history in a very 1:1 manner; e.g. the Nansur Empire. It's a reflection of the Roman Empire, even in sociopolitical ways. Or the Inrithi religion (with Inri Sejenus, whose name seems to be an anapher to Jesus). Not to speak of the Holy War against the pagans (is this the word used in the Original?).
Such alienations of the historical knowledge I like very much.
Ok, so long. At the moment I do not dare to discuss a lot here because of spoilers. But I'll be back .
