I thought I'd take a poll to see how many people prefer which title over the other. Feel free to vote and comment. view post

3-0 for ttt. well, it's unanimous. <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) --> view post

To me, When Sorcerers Sing sounds a bit too cliche. The Thousand Fold Thought gives the title more of a philisophical edge, like The Darkness that Comes Before. view post

I agree, that's why I prefer TTT as well. It's quite a marvellous title actually. Reminds me of Donaldson's Gap Cycle, that series has such cool individual titles as well. view post

I don't know what the book will be about, but I am inclined to agree with triple T. What I understood was that the books are not your typical high fantasy. When Sorcerers Sing is something I imagine for maybe other kind of fantasy books. Giving it the title When Sorcerers Sing may sound a bit cheesy and "out of character" compared to the more original and curious title The Darkness that Comes Before. But WSS may have more appeal at the public unfamiliar with the book. view post

true, but nothing else (so far) in pon tries to appeal to the lowest common denominator. why start with the title of the third book??

i think it would do better to title the book appropriately for the target audience... i mean, the only thing more useless than selling a book to someone who won't like it is to not get a sale of a book because it appears too simple/pulpy to someone who is looking for something more substantial.

besides, it's the third (and final??) book in the series. most people will have made up their mind about whether they like the books before they get around to buying the third one. if they're still around, then it's because they like the heavier reading found in pon, and a heavier title would appeal more to them. view post

I agree there banditski. Nothing more to ad <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

So....is it unanimous (sp) decided that we agree for TTT as title? <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> view post

So far it's 7-0 for TTT, so it is looking that way. However, only 7 of our 17 members have voted, so we still don't have a clear majority... view post

Another vote for TTT. Sounds cool. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> view post

All I'm asking is that as many people as feel comfortable vote so that we can have a better sampling. view post

Ah, but don't try to guilt-trip us into it when we make the choice to abstaine. view post

The Title posted 11 March 2004 in The Thousandfold ThoughtThe Title by MagnanimousOne, Candidate

Alright - you guilt-tripped me into my first post.

WSS sounds like a summer camp. OK, that would be a pretty cool summer camp but still... view post

I'm NOT. Trying to guilt trip that is. Hey MagnanimousOne! Glad you have started posting.

Sorry all, but I realized this poll had some problematic elements, so I scratched it and started over. Sorry to those of you who had already voted, but there are other options now you may choose and which may encourage other, more reticent voters, to vote. view post

I really feels that this ought to be up to that poor guy who's actually writing the books <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

But I do prefer TTT (apparently like everyone else that has voiced their oppinion) view post

Title i'd like to see:

"From-head-to-computer-to-convienent-retail-location-in-under-a-year-but-still-of-great-quality."

Then again i'd also accept "stop thinking of Akka's creepy doll as GingerBread Man from Shrek" but that can probably just fall into the preface or whatever.

Hey everyone <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Like other people I voted for the Thousandfold Thought, I think it really sounds mysterious, original and profound, like The Prince of Nothing is.

I just finished The Warrior Prophet today and I can't wait for TTT... this series is some incredible work Scott, I can't thank you enough for bringing these books to our shelves! view post

The Title posted 06 July 2004 in The Thousandfold ThoughtThe Title by legatus, Auditor

I cast my vote for The Thousandfold Thought as well.

I came out of The Warrior Prophet wondering what the bloody hell TTT might be--an extension of the logos, a newfound combination of dunyain philosophy and sorcerous metaphysics pioneered by Moengus, something obvious and explicitly explained in TWP that I overlooked like an idiot?--, so that title serves only to pique my curiosity further and exacerbate my impatience to get my hands on the next book. WSS doesn't evoke that kind of response though, nor does it hint at the philosophical underpinnings from the earlier books that fans will have come to appreciate and expect.

So for return readers, who I figure will make up the majority of the readership for the next book, it's TTT all the way. view post

I agree with The Thousandfold Thought, because if you recall there are numerous times in Warrior-Prophet that Kellhus is talking to himself (directed towards his father) in his mind that he refers to The Thousandfold Thought, what it is and if he has obtained it. Therefore in my opinion, of the two choices, clearly the better title. view post

Hell yeah, TTT is way better. It sounds all strange just like TDTCB. view post

The Title posted 31 August 2004 in The Thousandfold ThoughtThe Title by Scarred, Candidate

TTT sounds much, much better. When Sorcerors Sing sounds pretty lame. view post

The Title posted 27 October 2004 in The Thousandfold ThoughtThe Title by Inner_visions, Candidate

The Thousandfold Thought is a great name and kind of implies that Kellhus's father Moeghus is going to be deeply involved because it was one of his Cishaurum that told Kellhus of it. It's also an Alliteration(can't spell) so it strings together nicely.

When Sorcerers Sing sounds corny and very cliçhed to me, where as you books are the most uncliched fantasy i've read in a while. (got a bit more in TWP mut not much more.) Although the title does refer to Baker's interesting way of describing and involving sorcery.

I for one would love to see the novel be called, "Tears Of The God", "Swazond", "Circumfix" or "The Heretic-King". The Thousandfold Thought is good, but it doesn't necessarily capture the kind of attention that a short and simple but interesting title would. view post
