Has anyone else noticed the increased amount of Guests on the site im seeing like 34 guests online at the same time almost everyday. It also seems that people joining the site has slowed down. Anyonelse notice this? In total there are 40 users online :: 1 Registered, 0 Hidden and 39 Guests [ Administrator ] [ Moderator ] Most users ever online was 73 on Sun Nov 13, 2005 6:42 pm Registered Users: Warrior-Poet view post
The site doesn't seem much slower to me, at least not really noticeble slower. view post
At another site I frequent, there are often as many Guests/Lurkers online at the same time as registered users. Here's the current stats: 56 guests, 62 members 14 anonymous members. Better that they lurk and learn the ropes than immediately register and proceed to spam this place to hell and back... *waves to the lurkers* view post
Meh I'd rather they join. I usually join a new message baord and read alot of posts and just watch some conversations before jumping in right away, or at least before I post new subjects. we've had some problems with spam advertising here in the past so just because there are a bunch of guests doesn't mean some of them aren't bots attempting to do stuff But for aqll you lurkers
Welcome to the party, register and juts jump in on the conversations we won't bite.

Well usually we don't bite.

Terminal lurking is a weird habit--I've heard people admit that they'd lurk at a board for years (!!) before posting. But the other situation (freaky aggressive spammers) is way more unpleasant than having a few oglers. view post
Nothing wrong with lurking. The shadows are quite comfortable, if you're not much of a community person. Speaking from experience. I'm very hesitant to register anywhere, really. Also, are you sure these "guests" are actual people? Virtual lurkers? Lurker bots? Board software artefacts? Hmm... view post
I think most of them are some sort of bot... I haven't seen less than 20+ at any given time of the day today. view post
