r.a. salvatore's war of the spider queen series posted 14 March 2006 in Literature Discussionr.a. salvatore's war of the spider queen series by gierra, Sorcerer-of-Rank

has anyone read this series of 7 books, all based around drow elves? i really haven't read too many forgotten realms books, but my boyfriend lent me this whole series. it's not written by salvatore, but i guess the story concept was his, and he had other authors write each book.

i definitely recommend it to anyone who likes that sort of stuff. view post

i stopped reading forgotten realms they were ok for a while then i read asiaf and PoN and MBoF and i have no desire to go back because there is so much stuff that is better. if you liked that though you might want to give the dark elf trilogy a try its by salvatore and is pretty good it starts his drizzt series which is his main character in like 17 books. i liked those even though i never read the war of the spider queen you may like it to.
book 1 is homeland book 2 is exile and book 3 is sojurn view post

Those books are fun and entertaining. I gotta get the 3rd book of the Drizzt series in the New Graphic novel format soon.

I read them all (The spiderqueen and the Drizzt books) when I was younger all in all I found them to be very competent sword and sorcery works. THey were fun and entertaining, just don't expect something on par with Bakker view post

I've read the entire War of the Spider Queen series, and they are quite good. They aren't as in-depth or intriguing as the Prince of Nothing series, but they are still an enjoyable read. It has lots of action and fighting. Also, the entire series was written by different authors, so bear that in mind.

I searched Amazon and found the new book, titled "Sacrifice of the Widow", which evidently picks up where the last book of WoSQ series ended. Hope this helps. view post

Alas, egad, *blushes with a shameful admission* I have read Forgotten Realms material. Salvatore is the best of the TSR authors (IMHO). However, alas, that is not a high standard. view post
