Since I had already read Baigent and Leigh's The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail and Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum I was not tremendously impressed with The Da Vinci Code as it seemed just a rehash of the ideas in the other two books. And there are literally dozens on the same theme out there. I'm a little puzzled as to why Brown's book should cause such a fuss. The ideas in it have been in circulation for centuries. Read a few of the Apocryphal gospels. Maybe Brown is the first to reach mainstream audiences. If I had not read all of the others then maybe it would have impressed me more. view post
