Why read fantasy? posted 09 August 2004 in Literature DiscussionWhy read fantasy? by drosdelnoch, Subdidact

I have to blame my Dad to be honest, he introduced me to Gemmell just under 20 years ago, and from there I went through his collection of books which had everything from Lieber to Tolkien onwards.

Its all his fault, then when I started getting books he started nicking them off me. Now my collection is getting ridiculous and he cant keep up, still will keep him amused and when he gets bored he just asks for a list of what I have or goes into a book shop, looks at what he likes then asks me if I have it, every so often I take a bag full of novels for him which he then reads and I get them back a few months later and then lend him another bag full, the rate Im going he can be reading for the next 40 years and still have a loads left to go through <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> view post
