Nostalgia: Fav part of the trilogy? posted 02 March 2006 in The Thousandfold ThoughtNostalgia: Fav part of the trilogy? by Diem Kaye, Candidate

The opening scene of The Darkness that Comes Before was awesomely done, I thought. Just drew you in right away.

Another one of my favorite scenes was one of the campfire episodes with Zin, Acha, Esmi, and Kellhus. I forget the exact lines, but I remember Kellhus imitating Cnair:

"And we, Scylvendi, our balls are so big, they hang one on each side of the saddle! And they are so heavy, they do not bounce!"

Bakker's a great writer, but sometimes his humor just doesn't strike with me. I found that scene however, to be one of the funniest things I've read.

Oh, and any chapter that had the Emperor Xerius in it, was just great. I love Bakker's insane characters, he creates them so frighteningly well. view post
